I read often in several witchy groups. Many witches discuss a lot about the color of a specific magical rite, is there any kind of black magic and what is black magic. It always makes me smile a bit.
Labeling things is not always good for us. Think about the nature cycle, there are no unequivocal good or bad things out there. There are no well-intentioned bugs and vicious bugs. What is bad for someone, it is essential to someone else. So humans are the same, there are no bad people and good people. Every single action of ours is subjective. Some actions are harmful to others, but some of them are helpful to them but harmful to us. The mosquito is biting us for a sip of blood - but mosquitos are the main food for some birds and frogs, and the larva is the main food for fishes in the ponds. There is a place for everyone out there, everyone has their own goals.

So there is no need to sort magical spells to black and white labelled groups. Human brain always tries to sort things into groups and likes to stick labels on them: who is nicce, who is beautiful, who is bigger, older, what color is bright, what color is dark, what plant is harmful and what is useful (this is subjective too!), and what color the magic has. I must lay my point of view down: there are sooo many shades of grey (at least 50 ;) ) There are only a few people int he world who can cast a white magic spell without any kind of selfish content - if only a very little piece of selfish content is contaminating the spell you cast, it is not white anymore - it is grey…
